Inp.polri.go.id - Badung. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar is working on a "curriculum of love" to foster true religious tolerance in Indonesia following his concerns that current religious teachings often focus on one faith being the sole truth, which may lead to division and intolerance.
"We aim to create a curriculum centered on love. Too often, religious education teaches that only one belief is correct, dismissing others as wrong," he said in a statement on Friday (17/1/2025).
The minister warned that such teachings could encourage hatred in Indonesia, a country known for its diversity and pluralism.
Minister Nasaruddin stressed that real tolerance involves fostering love and unity among all people, regardless of their religious differences. He urged the public to teach children the values of togetherness and respect.
"We should emphasize what unites us, not what divides us. Let's make Indonesia a global example of religious harmony," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
