inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian instructed local governments to ensure the smooth flow of homecoming for Eid 2025.

In his instruction, Tito emphasized the importance of coordination between local governments, the police, and other stakeholders in ensuring the smooth flow of homecoming for Eid 2025.

One of the main focuses is the improvement of road infrastructure and handling of overflowing markets that have the potential to hinder traffic flow.

"We have been saying this since last month that roads full of holes or prone to flooding should be repaired immediately. This step must be taken to avoid slowing down travel," said the Minister of Home Affairs on Thursday (3/20/2025).

In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs also highlighted the importance of ports and airports preparation, especially in the archipelagic area and eastern part of Indonesia.

The government has requested that standard operating procedures (SOPs) at ports be tightened to prevent overloading that risks endangering passenger safety.

"Don't let an incident like those in Lake Toba be happening again. The availability of safety equipment, including life jackets, must be ensured," stressed Tito.

On the other hand, regarding food stability, the Minister of Home Affairs ensured that the supply of rice, corn, chicken and eggs is safe. However, he noted that there has been an increase in the price of several commodities, such as chili, granulated sugar, and cooking oil.

"We thank the Indonesian National Police Food Task Force and the Ministry of Agriculture and Trade for taking action against distributors of cooking oil who violate the rules," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

The Minister of Home Affairs also emphasized that this year's Eid is the first test for the 503 new regional heads who were just inaugurated on February 20, 2025.

He asked them to work hard to ensure the smooth running of Eid celebrations in their respective regions.
