inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Environment (KLH) is targeting the Greater Jakarta area to become the first region to use low-sulfur fuel before finally expanding to other regions. This initiative is taken with the support of coordination with stakeholders.
In a review of the PT Pertamina oil refinery in Balongan, Indramayu Regency, West Java, the Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that he had asked Pertamina to immediately improve the quality of fuel supplied to the region to achieve Euro 4 quality as part of efforts to reduce air pollution.
"For Jakarta, it seems that it cannot be delayed any longer. The costs that we have to spend are quite large to deal with the impact of diseases caused by poor air quality," he added.
Coordination has been carried out by KLH together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) regarding this matter.
The Minister of Environment said that coordination is also being carried out continuously by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and the holding company PT Pertamina to take significant steps in the context of handling air quality in the Jakarta area.
Communication is also intensively carried out with local governments, including the Jakarta Provincial Government, regarding air pollution, one of which is by working together to supervise industrial areas.
