inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Law noted that there were 1.74 million applications for intellectual property (IP) registration over the past decade, namely 2015-2024, with an average growth of 18.5 percent per year.

The Director General of Intellectual Property of Law Ministry Razilu said that the high number of applications showed the extraordinary enthusiasm of the Indonesian people in protecting their intellectual works.

"In general, the graph shows a significant increase every year in each type of intellectual property application," said Razilu at the One Decade Performance Expose and Intellectual Property Appreciation event in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/4/2025).

He detailed that in 2015, there were 74,893 applications for intellectual property registration. Then it continued to increase every year to 80,900 requests in 2016, 89,286 applications in 2017, 115,819 applications in 2018, 141,169 applications in 2019, and 160,337 applications in 2020.

Then, it increased to 196,925 applications in 2021, 249,701 requests in 2022, 290,239 applications in 2023, and 339,304 applications in 2024.

Razilu said that the increase was not just an increase in numbers, but a reflection and transformation of public awareness and understanding of the importance of intellectual property as a valuable asset.

Furthermore, he added that this also proves that the efforts of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in conducting socialization, education, and providing easy services have succeeded in growing a more conducive intellectual property ecosystem.

"This also indicates that innovation and creativity in Indonesia never stop, but continue to accelerate," he said.
