Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, has once again reminded supporters to refrain from discriminatory behavior while cheering for the Indonesian National Football Team against China in the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday.
“We hope our supporters show the true face of our nation. We are not people who practice discrimination,” he said on Wednesday (4/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Chairman Erick praised Indonesian fans for their sportsmanship during recent home matches against Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Australia. He also urged online supporters to maintain this respectful attitude. “
The warnings follow FIFA sanctions after xenophobic behavior from some fans during the Indonesia-Bahrain match, resulting in a fine of about Rp4 00 million and a 15% spectator limit reduction for the Indonesia-China game.
Around 3,000 Chinese supporters are expected at the match, with official representatives from China also attending.
