Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) announced plans to study a potential route extension to South Tangerang without using regional budgets, instead exploring a Public-Private Partnership model.

“We aim to conduct a feasibility study for expanding the MRT line using non-government funding, preferably under a PPP scheme,” said Farchad Mahfud, the MRT Jakarta’s Director of Business Development, on Thursday (10/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The initiative considers fiscal disparities and local conditions across provinces. A formal engagement with South Tangerang authorities is expected soon.

Previous studies by the Directorate General of Railways highlighted potential routes. However, MRT Jakarta is seeking innovative strategies to enhance service and reduce inter-provincial traffic congestion.

Earlier discussions involved former South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany and the Greater Jakarta Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ). The proposed line could connect to Rawa Buntu station in South Tangerang.
