inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In the House of Representatives Commission VI meeting, the Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi, made an important confession that there was a cooking oil mafia that made the product rare and expensive.
He admitted defeat. He is helpless and said that the authority of the Ministry of Trade, based on regulations, was not strong enough to be able to hunt down these mafias.
Currently, he has reported the alleged existence of the mafia to the Food Task Force and the police so that they can be investigated.
Lutfi then apologized, once again, for not being able to suppress the practices which he said were carried out by evil and greedy people.
Luthfi's assertion implies that the cooking oil issue is far from over. The ball is now in the hands of the Police. There are criminal matters that must be handled by the Police.
It is better if the Police cooperate with the KPPU to investigate this case of the cooking oil mafia, considering that the KPPU's capacity is very good in terms of uncovering allegations of business cartels.
