Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In a major step toward national resilience, President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the members of the National Energy Council (DEN) for the 2026–2029 period at the State Palace on Wednesday (28/1/2026). 

The council is tasked with a critical mission: accelerating Indonesia’s transition toward energy self-sufficiency and optimizing the national energy mix through renewable sources.

"The hope is that with the inauguration of the National Energy Council today, we can speed up the preparation processes to chase our priority programs," said State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, as quoted by antaranews.com

The council will be chaired by President Prabowo. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has been appointed as the Operational Chair.  It has 15 members, comprising of seven ministers and eight professionals.\. 

The council’s immediate priorities include boosting national oil lifting rates, expanding solar energy utilization, leveraging Indonesia's equatorial position, and promoting the widespread use of biofuels and biosolar to reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports.
