Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The United States and Indonesia have significantly escalated their strategic cooperation in cyber policy to combat the rising tide of sophisticated online fraud, ransomware, and transnational cybercrime across the Indo-Pacific.
During a high-level Cyber Policy Discussion in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/1/2026), US officials emphasized that securing the digital landscape is vital for regional economic prosperity and national security.
"Cyber threats harm our societies and economies. Together, we can build stronger defenses to protect our citizens and economic well-being," said Peter Haymond, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the US Embassy in Jakarta, as cited by antaranews.com
To solidify this partnership, the US announced an additional aid package, bringing the total cyber support for Indonesia to $10 million (approx. Rp 167.3 billion). This funding will facilitate the training of Indonesian government officials by top-tier US cybersecurity experts.
The program aims to deploy advanced tools to countervail foreign state-sponsored cyber activities and protect Indonesia’s critical infrastructure. This initiative is a core component of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, designed to stabilize global trade supply chains and protect the interests of businesses and citizens in both countries.
