inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid called on national media industry players to maintain their credibility in the digital space in order to create a healthy, safe, and hoax-free digital space and damaging content.
According to her, it is necessary to strengthen collaboration between the government and national media as strategic partners of the state so that comfortable and safe conditions can be achieved in Indonesia's digital space.
"Once again, good media, sustainable media, media that maintains journalistic ethical values are strategic partners of the government," said Minister Meutya on Wednesday (6/11/2025).
She explained that currently there are at least three main challenges facing the national media industry in the era of digital disruption, namely increasingly tight competition with global digital platforms, audience fragmentation that demands personalization, and a shift in consumption to audio-visual content.
The challenges facing the media today bring great opportunities as the business world in the digital era still has trust in the media and continues to market through channels owned by national media.
This is also shown by the results of the total advertising spending of Indonesian media, which was quite large in the first quarter of 2024, reaching 744 million US dollars (around IDR 12 trillion).
With these three challenges, she believes that national media need to maintain the quality and credibility of their content while trying to find the right solution to face changes in the digital space.
According to her, national media must also be able to present more diverse forms of content so that sources of income do not only depend on advertising but also on other forms of monetization.
