Eight Suspects of LPG Gas Adulteration Practice Busted by the Police

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit arrested eight people for the misuse of subsidized gas in Sidoarjo, East Java, on Tuesday (6/10//2025). The eight suspects are RBP, AS, NRI, E, WTA, EI, R, and PT.

The Director of Certain Crimes, Brigadier General Nunung Syaifuddin, explained that the suspects had been transferring gas from subsidized to non-subsidized cylinders. The activity had been going on for 10 months.

"The misuse of subsidized LPG gas has been going on for 10 months with an estimated state loss reaching approximately IDR 7.9 billion," said Nunung, Wednesday (6/11/25).

He explained, from this disclosure, evidence was confiscated, including 487 3 kg gas cylinders, 2 5.5 kg gas cylinders, 227 12 kg gas cylinders, 12 hose regulators, 11 short regulators, 4 water tanks, and 3 pick-up trucks and recording documents.

Nunung further explained that in their illegal operation suspect RBP acted as the owner and AS as the person in charge. Then, the suspects NRI, E, WTA, and EI are the ones who moved the Liquified gas from the subsidized gas cylinders to non-subsidized gas cylinders. Then, the suspect R as the supplier of subsidized gas and the suspect PT the buyer who accommodated the mixed gas products.

Suspects will be charged with multiple charges with a prison sentence of 6 six years max and a total fine reaching IDR 60 billion.
