inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. National Police Commissioner, Poengky Indarti, appreciated the commencement of the 58th International Policewomen Conference, where Indonesia became the first Asian country to host. She said that this event could strengthen the role, ability, and knowledge of Indonesian Policewomen.

"The international Policewomen meeting that discusses various topics is assured to strengthen roles, skills, and knowledge of our Policewomen", Poengky said in Jakarta.

Besides, the benefit from the event is to strengthen the P to P (police to police) cooperation that would lead to the improvement of Indonesian National Police performances to be a world-class organisation.

"The cooperation could be in the form of education, training, investigating transnational cases, et cetera", Poengky said.

Not only from the Police strength, Poengky continues, but the commencement of the Indonesian Policewomen Conference in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on November 6-11, 2020, also supporting government's effort in strengthening the national economy.

"International events and the arrival of foreign guests would help improving national economy through the visits to tourist places in Indonesia", Poengky explained.

As information, Poengky would also become one of the speakers in the International Policewomen Conference. Poengky deemed that Indonesian Policewomen are similarly strong compared to their male coworkers. The Policewoman is spread across work units and regional units, even filling the strategical position such as Police Brigadier General Deputy Chief of Central Kalimantan Regional Police, Police Brigadier General Ida Oetari, Chief of Historical Centre of Indonesian National Police, Police Brigadier General Apriastini Bakti Bugiansri, and Chief of Research and Development Bureau of the Education and Training Board of Indonesian National Police, Police Brigadier General Juansih.

"I push the need for more Policewoman recruitment, considering it only 5.8% of all Indonesian Police personnel", Poengky said.

As the National Police's international supervisor, Poengky advised that National Police need to trust Policewomen more to fill the leading positions in the region. By showing a Policewoman as the leader and more Policewoman becomes Chief of Departmental and Sectoral Police.

"I believe the woman's leadership would push Police personnel to be professional in serving and protecting people and law enforcing to realise public security and order maintenance", he said.

Poengky also added that the commencement of the International Policewomen Conference in Labuan Bajo showed that Indonesian Policewomen are recognised by the international Policewomen.

"It makes all of us very proud", she concluded.
