  1. Instagram Account Owner reset account via email

  When an Instagram account is hacked, the account owner will receive an email from security @mail.Instagram.com notifying that the email has been changed. After that, the account owner can immediately cancel the notification by selecting the 'Revert These Changes' option in the email message.

  In addition, the account owner can change the hacked Instagram password by generating a password reset link to be sent via email.

  2. Account owner resets account via mobile app

  On the Account Log-in page, the account owner can tap the 'Get Help to log in' menu and re-enter username, Email or Mobile Number. However, my owner had to tap on the 'need more help?' menu and then follow the instructions on the page.
