Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul confirmed no Indonesians have been reported injured following a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon (23/4/2025) .
“There are no reports of Indonesian casualties so far,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Achmad Rizal Purnama, in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Over 2,600 Indonesian citizens live in the Istanbul consular area, including professionals, students, and those married to Turkish nationals. Of those, 1,707 reside in Istanbul itself.
The quake struck around 12:50 p.m. local time and was followed by aftershocks, causing residents to flee into the streets. Power outages and internet disruptions were also reported. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) confirmed the quake's impact.
Eyewitnesses in Istanbul’s western Atakoy district described shaking walls, swaying light fixtures, and brief blackouts.
Local authorities continue to assess damages, but no injuries involving Indonesian citizens have been recorded as of the latest updates.
