Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) confirmed on Tuesday (12/8/2025) that, as of the first week of August, no haze from domestic forest and land fires has crossed into neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore.
“Hotspots are areas with high surface temperatures, while fire spots indicate active flames. We combine this data with wind patterns to predict cross-border haze, and we have not detected any,” said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology, Guswanto, as reported by antaranews.com.
Monitoring uses satellite imagery capable of identifying wind direction and speed across different atmospheric layers, integrated with hotspot and fire spot data from six priority provinces: Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.
BMKG noted that while haze in western Indonesia remains thin and localized, dry season conditions pose a risk if triggered by human activity. Authorities continue daily surveillance and coordination with national agencies and ASEAN counterparts to ensure rapid response.
