inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Fajar Riza Ul Haq, emphasized that there is zero tolerance for perpetrators of sexual harassment and bullying in schools throughout Indonesia.

"We emphasize that there is zero tolerance for any sexual harassment, zero tolerance for any bullying, especially if it results in the death of the victim," Fajar stated on Tuesday (4/14/2026).

He acknowledged that the current challenge in education in Indonesia is how to create a safe, comfortable, and healthy environment. Therefore, in response to these cases, the government has issued Regulation No. 6 of 2026 concerning a Safe and Comfortable School Culture.

"The purpose of this Regulation is to emphasize the government's stance that there is zero tolerance for any sexual harassment or bullying in schools," said Fajar.

According to him, the government is deeply concerned by the continued high number of cases of sexual harassment and bullying occurring in schools. In fact, in many cases, bullying begins and occurs within the family.

"Regarding this case, we encourage schools to communicate with families or parents. Often, bullying victims are victims of family problems, which then lead to a lack of communication with the school," he explained.

Therefore, the government encourages every problem in schools to be resolved by parents through the school committee and the school itself, not through legal channels or reporting to law enforcement officers (APH).
