Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The North Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police urged on Friday (16/1/2026) Jakartans to immediately report any form of sexual harassment to ensure swift legal action and safer public spaces.
“We encourage victims and witnesses to report sexual harassment without hesitation, especially in public spaces and mass transportation,” said North Jakarta Criminal Investigation Chief Superintendent Onkoseno Grandiarso Sukahar, responding to a recent case on public transportation involving alleged sexual misconduct.
He stressed that public safety is a shared responsibility and assured victims that reports will be handled professionally and confidentially.
The call followed the arrest of two men suspected of committing an indecent act on a TransJakarta bus in North Jakarta on Thursday evening. Officers secured suspects, witnesses, and physical evidence to support the investigation, according to antaranews.com
Chief Onkoseno emphasized that reporting enables law enforcement to act quickly, protect victims, and prevent repeat offenses. Jakartans are advised to contact nearby officers or emergency services if they experience or witness harassment.
