Inp.polri.go.id – North Sulawesi. The North Sulawesi Regional Police, Inspector General Yudhiawan Wibisono along with his key officials and the Food Task Force visit Barsehati Market to review food prices.
“Today, me and the Food Task Force, Bulog representative, Market Office officials, Food Sustainability Officials, Provincial Government and Manado City Economic Bureau officials , and the Special Criminal Investigation unit are all here. The reason why we are here is because we are the hands of the government and we aim to balance the food price according to the specified retail price,” said the police chief quoted from indimanado on Saturday (3/2/2024).
In his statement, this initiative is for the best interest of the public ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
“If the food price is too high, people would not be able to buy the food and could potentially cause instability, particularly ahead of Ramadan,” continued the police chief.
In addition, the inspection was also part of the President's instruction to ensure the food price is balanced in the market.
“We are here to directly review the price. If it is too expensive, we would investigate who the distributor is, and find out why the price is too high. We and the Bulog representative will also conduct market operations to ensure the market price is the same as the price set by the government,” explained Yudhiawan.
At the end of the occasion, he emphasized that there will be market inspection and law enforcement against the merchants and distributors violating the law.
