Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In a massive strike against the financial infrastructure of illegal betting, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has confirmed the freezing of over 30,000 bank accounts.
This operation, spanning from late 2023 through the end of 2025, represented a centralized effort between OJK, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), and law enforcement to choke the "money trails" used by gambling syndicates.
"Our directive to the banking sector is clear: implement zero tolerance for transactions linked to these illegal platforms," said Dian Ediana Rae, the OJK’s Executive Head of Banking Supervision, on Monday (26/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com
The crackdown showed a shifting battlefield. As banks tighten their "Know Your Customer" (KYC) protocols and deploy AI-driven web crawling to flag suspicious activity, syndicates are migrating toward e-wallets and anonymous payment gateways.
To stay ahead, the OJK is now mandating that all financial institutions integrate "Cyber Patrol" modules into their core banking systems. These systems are designed to detect "mule accounts", which are legitimate accounts rented out to criminals, by identifying atypical high-frequency, low-value transaction bursts characteristic of gambling deposits.
