Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) has officially approved Thomas Djiwandono as the new Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI).
The decision was reached through a consensus during a meeting on Monday (26/1/2026), following a rigorous fit and proper test. Thomas, who was the deputy minister of finance and is the cousin of President Prabowo subianto, is set to replace Juda Agung, who resigned from the central bank’s board of governors on 13 January, 2026.
"Through a process of deliberation and consensus, it was decided that Thomas Djiwandono will be the Deputy Governor of BI," said Mukhamad Misbakhun, the Chairman of Commission XI, He highlighted that Thomas’ vision for harmonizing monetary and fiscal policies was a decisive factor in his selection.
The appointment is viewed by market analysts as a move to strengthen the synergy between the central bank and the government's economic agenda.
During his hearing, Thomas said that close cooperation between BI and the Ministry of Finance is critical to bolstering national economic growth amidst global volatility. The nomination, which was originally proposed by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo to the President, will be finalized in a Plenary Session scheduled for Tuesday.
