inp.polri.go.id - For the last two weeks of 2024 Operation Zebra Toba, the education and traffic operation carried out by North Sumatra Regional Police and ranks have shown positive results in reducing traffic fatality rate.
The Head of North Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi, in his written statement says many traffic socialization and education activities continue to be carried out as it remains to be one of effective ways to improve public awareness.
"Traffic accident report shows a decreasing number of traffic accidents. This is a good news for us in our effort of enforcing the law," says Hadi on Monday (10/28/2024).
Ticketing report also shows a positive trend with total violations decreasing from 34,856 in 2023 to 25,123 in 2024.
On the other hand, for two weeks after Operation Zebra Toba 2024 was conducted, the total traffic accidents occurrence can be reduced to 42.9% than the previous year.
There are a total of 120 traffic accidents, greatly reduced from the previous 210 from the same period of the previous year. Accidents involving motorcycles decreased from 269 to 144 incidents, although the number of car accidents increased.
"These results are certainly an evaluation for the police to continue to improve better services to the community in the future," he explained.
