Inp.polri.go.id: Mimika The head of the Anti-Violence Human Rights Foundation (Yahamak), Arnold RunSumbre in Mimika Regency, called on Friday (2/17/2023) for the release of Phillip Mehrtens, the pilot of Susi Air, who has been taken hostage by the Egianus Kogoya-led Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
He highlighted the critical role that pilots like Mehrtens play in providing vital services to the people of Papua. In many remote areas, air transport is the only means of delivering essential supplies, including medical aid, food, and educational materials.
“I urge the people from all regions in Papua to join me in praying for the safe return of the Susi Air pilot who is currently being held by the KKB. I sincerely hope that the entire community will bless and support these efforts with their prayers for the Indonesian Military and Indonesian National Police to rescue the pilot successfully,” he said.
RunSumbre’s call for prayer indicates a heartfelt plea for a peaceful resolution to the current crisis in Papua. (ay/hn/um)
