Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri says that personnel Indonesian Military Force (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP) continue their pursuit on the Armed Criminal Group who shot the Wings Air when it was about to land in Nop Goliath Airport on Saturday (2/17/2024) noon at 13.20 pm WIT.
“Thankfully no fatalities from that incident,” said Mathius on Sunday (2/18/2024).
From the report received by the police chief, it was revealed that the shooting occurred when Wings Air was carrying dozens of passengers to Dekai and was about to land in Nop Goliath Airport. When the plane was about to land, they heard a gunshot which hits the left side of the plane.
The plane who carries the 36 passengers was reportedly able to flew back to Timika. A passenger named Pratu Ongen who sits at 19 A reportedly hit by the shrapnel and scratch his neck.
Regarding the perpetrator of the incident, police and joint security personnel are thoroughly investigating the case.
“We are still studying the case to reveal the perpetrator,” conclude Mathius.
