Papua Regional Police Chief Clarified the Issue of Thousands Polling Stations Who Have Not Yet Voted

Inp.polri.go.id – Papua. Papua Regional Police Chief Clarified the Issue of Thousands Polling Stations Who Have Not Yet Voted Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri explains why 1,297 polling stations in the province have not voting. The police chief told that the reasons are because of logistics distribution issue and social conflict on noken system. Mathius says that 13,916 polling stations have voted from the total of 15,213 polling stations. Most voting issue are occurred in Papua Mountains and Central Papua due to noken system. It is revealed in detail that there are 1,172 polling station in Central Papua and 91 polling stations in Papua Mountains who have not voted. “This noken system is identical to conflict social, such as in Puncak Jaya, and unfortunately we are not able to hold the voting,” said Mathius on Thursday (2/15/2024). According to Mathius, in Mamberamo Raya there are four districts who have not yet voted due to the helicopter unable to distribute the logistics. Moreover, Mathius also revealed there are 697 from 811 polling stations in Puncak Jaya Regency that has to hold follow-up voting. There are also other 383 polling stations from the total of 463 polling stations in Intan Jaya and 92 from 499 polling stations in Paniai that have to carried out follow-up voting. Meanwhile, on other region such as Papua Mountains who also used noken system, there are 87 polling stations of 1,083 that have not yet voted. Then, there are also 4 of the 1,034 polling stations in Jayawijaya Regency who have to revote. “But all in all, we are grateful there are no violence or attack from the Armed Criminal Groups,” said the police chief.
