inp.polri.go.id – Padang. The police have succeeded in uncovering the alleged act of abuse of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) in Dharmasraya, West Sumatra. The perpetrator, A (41), is suspected of hoarding subsidized bio-diesel fuel and selling it to residents at a profit of Rp. 20,000 per jerry can. The action, which had been carried out for almost a month and a half, was finally revealed by the police. "An arrest has been made for the perpetrator with the initials A (41), a resident of Kepalo Koto Nagari Sikabau, which occurred on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at around 10:00 WIB in Jorong Kapalo Koto Nagari Sikabau, Pulau Punjung District, Dharmasraya," said Dharmasraya Police Chief (Kapolres Dharmasraya) AKBP Nurhadiansyah when contacted by Kompas.com, Sunday (17/4/2022). Nurhadiansyah said that the evidence that was successfully secured was a white Isuzu colt diesel car, a modified panther car. Then, two-1,000 liter water tanks, 12-20 liter jerry cans (4 filled, 8 empty), a set of pumps, and 1,100 liters of bio-diesel fuel. Nurhadiansyah said that the disclosure of the case was part of the National Police, especially the West Sumatra Police Chief, attention in responding to national issues related to fuel shortages. "Initially we have received reports of hoarding of subsidized fuel. Based on the results of the investigation, we finally arrested the perpetrators," said Nurhadiansyah. The perpetrator was charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas as amended in Article 40 point 9 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. He was threatened with imprisonment of a maximum 6 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion. According to his statement, the perpetrator had been doing this for about a month and a half. The fuel is not sold by the perpetrators outside the region but is only marketed in the Dharmasraya area with a profit of Rp. 20,000 per jerry can.
