Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State energy company PT Pertamina confirmed on Thursday (16/4/2026) that it is actively negotiating the release of two large tankers, the Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, which have been stranded in the Persian Gulf since early March 2026.

The vessels are currently unable to exit the region following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran.

"We are maintaining intensive coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant stakeholders to monitor the highly dynamic situation in the Strait of Hormuz," said Arya Dwi Paramita, the Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina, as cited by antaranews.com.

According to vessel tracking data, the Pertamina Pride is currently positioned off the coast of Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, while the Gamsunoro is anchored off Dubai, UAE. Pertamina International Shipping remains in constant communication with the crews to ensure their safety and is coordinating with insurance providers regarding the operational delays.

Although Iranian authorities have responded positively to Indonesia's diplomatic requests, the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, noted that ongoing technical negotiations are required as regional security risks remain high.
