inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The Human Trafficking Crime Investigation Team (TPPO) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police arrested a foreign national from China named He Jin alias Yen Cing who was the mastermind behind the human smuggling operation to Australia.

"The person was arrested in Jakarta on June 3 at around 22.00 pm at the Directorate General of Immigration Office in Jakarta," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra in Kupang, Thursday (6/5/2025).

He explained that He Jin was named the main suspect in the human smuggling case that occurred in November 2024, from Labuan Bajo Beach, NTT to the coast of Australia.

He Jin is suspected of being the mastermind behind the practice of smuggling people from China who wanted to enter Australia illegally.

Henry said that the investigation into this case was carried out thanks to intense coordination between the International Relations Division, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters, the Directorate General of Immigration, and the NTT Regional Police TPPO Unit.

Based on the results of the investigation, it was discovered that He Jin and his gang had smuggled seven Chinese nationals from Bali to Labuan Bajo using a fiber speedboat.

The foreign nationals had stayed for several days in Labuan Bajo, before being illegally sent to Australia without notification to immigration.

The Chinese nationals who were to be smuggled were asked to pay 5,000 thousand US dollars per person.

The suspect He Jin is suspected of violating Article 120 paragraph (1) and Article 122 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, with a sentence of 5 to 15 years in prison.
