inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto believes that Indonesia will become the world's food source and a solution for other countries currently experiencing drought and famine.

After carrying out a simultaneous corn harvest and sending the first corn export to Malaysia in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, Thursday (6/5/2025), the President is optimistic that Indonesia will not only succeed in realizing national food self-sufficiency, but also the world's food source.

"I am very sure that we will become the world's food source. We can be the solution to the problems of many other countries currently experiencing famine and drought," said President Prabowo while giving a statement to the media, Bengkayang, Thursday (6/4/2025).

The President said that the increase in national corn production reached 48 percent in the first quarter of this year from 1 hectare of land producing 4 tons of corn to 6-8 tons of corn.

According to the President, corn self-sufficiency will be achieved more quickly in about 1 year as it is supported by good quality variety seeds and organic fertilizers.

The President added that this increase in production is not only to achieve food independence, but also to increase farmers' income.

Prabowo wants farmers to prosper with the help of agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan), quality seeds, fertilizers, and biofertilizers.

"We want our farmers to prosper, they must live well. Thus, we must try to keep them from spending too much on farming. We have to make farming as efficient as possible as we are trying to help in any way we can. We have the technology, seeds, fertilizers, and biofertilizers that I believe are in good quality," said the President.

The results of the simultaneous corn harvest in the second quarter nationally are estimated at 1.78 million to 2.54 million tons.
