Inp.polri.go.id - Balik Bukit. In a swift response to a landslide-induced traffic gridlock, police officers from the West Lampung Sub-regional ict Police evacuated a pregnant woman who was stranded due to the landslide-induced congestion in Pekon Kubu Perahu, Balik Bukit.
The landslide happened at KM 17 Kubu Perahu, blocking four-wheeled vehicles.
Senior Inspector David Pulner, the Head of Traffic at the West Lampung Police said that the incident unfolded when authorities noticed a vehicle transporting a pregnant woman en-route to the Bunda Maternity Clinic in Liwa. However, the vehicle was unable to move due to the traffic congestion caused by the landslide, antaranews.com reported.
"Without hesitation, officers from the West Lampung Police took the initiative to transfer the pregnant woman to a patrol car parked across the road affected by the landslide. They promptly rushed her to the Bunda Maternity Clinic in Liwa using the patrol car," he said on Monday (19/2/2024.
The pregnant woman has since received medical attention at the Bunda Maternity Clinic in Liwa.
"Both the Balik Bukit Police and the Traffic Division of the West Lampung Police have reached out to relevant agencies, particularly the Regional Disaster Management Agency and the Transportation Agency of West Lampung, to deploy heavy machinery for the removal of landslide debris obstructing the roadside. Hopefully, normal traffic flow will be restored soon," Chief David said.
