Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to host a hearing for the commencement of the fasting month of Ramadan this year on Sunday (10/3/3034).
Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin Amin, said that the event would be conducted in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline participation.
"This confirmation hearing serves as a religious service for the community to obtain certainty regarding the commencement of religious practices," Kamaruddin said on Monday (19/2/2024).
The hearing will involve the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Hisab and Rukyat Team several ambassadors and representatives of Islamic organizations.
This session will also engage representatives from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Development at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Adib, added that they have also invited the leaders of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the House of Representatives Commission VIII to attend the confirmation hearing.
The hearing will both discuss the initial sighting of the crescent and the astronomical calculations to mark Ramadan this yea.
The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has declared that the beginning of Ramadan this year falls on 11 March 2024.
