inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections to focus on regulating the departure of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI).
The signing of the MoU was carried out by Minister of P2MI Abdul Kadir Karding with Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto on Monday (4/21/2025).
Minister Karding said the signing of the MoU was carried out with the hope that there would be no more leaks regarding Indonesian migrant workers who departed non-procedurally or illegally.
"Many of our workers who leave, especially to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, use pilgrimage visas or travel visas," said the Minister of P2MI on Tuesday (4/22/2025).
Regarding the Working Holiday Visa (WHV), Minister Karding said that his party would request data integration from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections as people who apply for the visa only need to get a recommendation from the Immigration and Corrections Ministry.
Thus, those who work using the Working Holiday Visa are not recorded in the Ministry of P2MI.
"Well, so far what has happened is that people who want to work with the Working Holiday Visa in Australia only need a recommendation from Immigration. As a result, they are not recorded in the ministry," explained the Minister of P2MI.
