inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Sumatra Regional Police Security Intelligence Directorate, together with the South Sumatra Interfaith Youth Alliance, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "Maintaining Interfaith Harmony: Challenges and Solutions in the Modern Era".
This event is an important forum to discuss efforts to maintain religious harmony amidst the rapid flow of globalization and advances in information technology which often exacerbate differences in identity.
The Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Management for South Sumatra, Hendra Zainuddin Al Qodiri, was present as the main speaker of the discussion in an effort to strengthen social harmony amidst the diversity of society.
In his speech, Hendra emphasized that maintaining harmony between religious communities is not only the task of one group, but is the shared responsibility of all elements of the nation.
According to him, South Sumatra has a wealth of culture and ethnicity that has great potential if it is maintained and guarded with a spirit of unity. He reminded that the potential for horizontal conflict could arise if harmony is left without concrete efforts to maintain it.
Meanwhile, Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the South Sumatra Regional Police Security Intelligence Directorate, Superintendent Sukaminto, said that this FGD shows police's concern for diversity and tolerance between religious communities in South Sumatra.
"This activity is a means of friendship between youth figures from various religions in South Sumatra. We want to strengthen national ties and provide space for constructive dialogue. As police officers, we are not only tasked with maintaining physical security, but also maintaining social stability and unity in society," said Sukaminto.
With the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect, South Sumatra wants to show that diversity is not a barrier, but a strength that can unite.
