Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police are pursuing suspects involved in the fatal mob assault on a debt collector in front of Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (11/12/2025).
The attack, involving an estimated 80 to 100 people, left one victim dead and another seriously injured.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we are identifying all individuals involved,” South Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Nicolas Ary Lilipaly said, as quoted by antaranews.com
He said the confrontation began when two groups clashed, leading to vandalism of nearby food stalls and damage to an online motorcycle taxi’s vehicle.
“Our personnel responded, but the crowd surged suddenly, overwhelming the initial security presence,” Chief Nicolas added.
Reinforcements from the Metro Jaya Regional Police Directorate, South Jakarta Police, and local police offices have secured the crime scene to ensure public safety and restore normal activity in Pancoran area
Police are examining the motive behind the attack, including its connection to a motorcyclist reportedly stopped by the victims before the incident.
