The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that the perpetrator of the bombing at SMAN 72 Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, was a student at the school. Currently, the police are investigating the possible link between the perpetrator and certain ideologies or exposure to content on social media.

"That's also part of our investigation. Did he believe in certain ideologies, was he exposed to certain hazardous content, or perhaps other things that invited him to do the action," said General Sigit while visiting the victims of the bombing at Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, Jakarta, Saturday (11/8/2025).

He emphasized that investigators are still exploring various possible motives behind the incident.

General Sigit added that the police will question the suspected perpetrator's family to gather facts that can assist the investigation.

In addition to investigating the possibility of exposure to certain ideologies, the police are also following up on reports that the perpetrator was a victim of bullying at school.

"That's one of the things that we're also looking at as part of our efforts to uncover the motive behind the incident. We're certainly gathering any relevant information that could support our investigation in developing a clearer picture of the motive," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator's condition is reportedly improving after undergoing intensive care.

"What's clear is that the alleged perpetrator's condition is improving, and hopefully, this will also make things easier for us when we need him," said General Sigit.
