inp.polri.go.id - Puncak Jaya. The Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police and the Damai Cartenz Operation moved quickly in responding to the fire incident report of two houses in Pruleme Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya on Friday early morning.
The incident was first reported at 00.30 am and was immediately followed up by the police by coming to the location.
Upon arrival at the location, officers conducted a search but did not find any occupants or eyewitnesses around the location.
“Personnel then moved quickly to secure the location and make sure no one was harmed in this incident. However, just 20 minutes after the first fire incident, police got another report that another house was burned,” says the Vice Ops of Damai Cartenz Operations, Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga.
Adarma added that until now the identity of the homeowner is still under investigation. Initial suspicions point to an element of intent, considering that the houses were unoccupied and the electricity in the complex was out.
"It is possible that this fire was deliberately set to trigger disturbances to public order and security in Puncak Jaya, considering that the location of the incident is one of the base areas of a criminal group," he added.
The police continue to tighten their patrol surveillance and appeal to the public to remain vigilant against potential security disturbances.
"We remind all personnel on duty in the field to always be alert, especially in responding to incidents at night to anticipate all possibilities," said Adarma.
