Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said on Tuesday that active police officers who already occupy civilian posts will not be required to resign, despite a recent Constitutional Court ruling that bans members of the Indonesian National Police (INP) from holding civilian positions without first leaving the force.
“Those who are already serving, unless the police withdraw them, do not need to resign because they assumed their posts before the Constitutional Court’s decision,” he told reporters on Tuesday (18/11/2025), as cited by antaranews.com.
Minister Supratman said the ruling applies only to future appointments, noting that the issue will be reviewed by the Police Reform Acceleration Commission to determine which civilian roles remain relevant to policing functions. He named agencies such as the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), as well as ministry directorates with law-enforcement mandates.
The Constitutional Court delivered the ruling on 13 November 2025.
