inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Banten Regional Police are preparing a security and traffic management scheme to anticipate the surge in the 2026 Eid homecoming traffic at Merak Port, Ciwandan Port, and Bakau Jaya Port (BBJ) in Bojonegara.
Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Hengki stated that the main steps taken are ensuring the readiness of infrastructure, human resources, and a traffic management system based on green, yellow, and red conditions.
"The homecoming traffic system is being regulated in such a way, using a green, yellow, and red condition scheme," he said after a cross-sectoral coordination meeting at Banten Regional Police Headquarters in Serang City, Banten, on Wednesday (2/25/2026).
He explained that in the event of bad weather, high waves, or swells, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), his office will implement a delaying system.
"In these conditions, a delaying system will be implemented, meaning vehicles will be parked in parking areas at kilometer 43 and kilometer 68, at PT Wilmar, Indah Kiat, and PT Indonesia Merit in Bojonegara," he said.
Furthermore, parking areas on the southern ring road will also be utilized to ease congestion in the event of weather disruptions.
For normal conditions, regulations refer to the Joint Decree (SKB) between ministries and the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), which is in effect from March 13-29, 2026.
"With the implementation of the SKB, crossing arrangements will be specifically for two-wheeled vehicles. Seven days before departure, motorcycles and class 5 and 6B vehicles will be directed to Ciwandan Port," he said.
Then, class 7, 8, and 9 vehicles will be directed to BBJ Bojonegara Port. Pedestrians, buses, and private vehicles will continue to use Merak Port.
Hengki added that in contingency situations such as flooding or high waves from March 19-22, 2026, coordination will be carried out with the KSOP and ASDP to divert traffic.
"Especially for class 5 and 6B vehicles and two-wheeled vehicles, if an emergency occurs, they will be diverted to Merak," he said.
