inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, accompanied by VIce Governor of North Sumatra H. Surya visited Gambir Market in Tebing Tinggi City on Friday (2/27/2026) to ensure the availability of various staple foods in the area during Ramadan and the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.
Minister Budi addressed questions about the prices of chilies, onions, tomatoes, and beef during a dialogue with several traders at the market.
Although no significant increases were found, Budi received input regarding food transportation and the price increases for non-local foods.
The Trade Minister took the opportunity to inspect Gambir Market in Tebing Tinggi, which was affected by the recent flooding. He was able to observe its condition firsthand, as well as assess food availability and price spikes.
From his inspection, Gambir Market has returned to normal. Buying and selling transactions appear active, and food prices and stocks are also stable.
"I asked earlier, the price of chicken is IDR 33,000 per kilo, beef IDR 130,000 per kg, eggs IDR 27,000 per kilo, shallots and garlic IDR 35,000 per kilo. There was also the price of local onions at IDR 32,000, so everything is safe," he said.
Budi also thanked the Tebing Tinggi City Government and the North Sumatra Provincial Government for maintaining stable food prices and stocks during Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Tebing Tinggi Mayor Iman Irdian Saragih attributed the stable prices of staple foods in Tebing Tinggi to his frequent Zoom meetings with several ministries regarding inflation control.
