Police Reveal Motive in Bali Shooting of Turkish Man by Mexican Gang

The Indonesian National Police (INP), the Bali Regional Police and the Badung Sub-regional Police uncovered the motive behind the shooting of Turkish man Turan Mehmet (30) by four Mexican men in Badung, Bali. "For now, the motive we've identified is a desire to acquire valuables from the victims. Other motives are under investigation," Badung Police Chief Superintendent Teguh Priyo Wasono said on Tuesday (30/1/2024). The Mexican men, identified as Aramburo Contreras Jose Alfonso (32),  Mayorquin Escobedo Juan Antonio (24) and Deraz Gonzalez Victor Eduardo (36), have been arrested and declared suspects.  One suspect, Sicairos Valdes Roberto (27), was later arrested in Nganjuk, East Java after a police hunt, antaranews.com reported. Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, the Chief  of Public Relations Unit at Bali Regional Police, explained that the incident occurred on 23 January 2024 in a villa in Mengwi, Badung.  Mehmet sustained gunshot wounds, while other three men in the villa managed to escape unharmed.  The suspects robbed Mehmet brother, Turan Muhammat Ennes,  Rp40 million and $4,000 in cash. The investigators arrested the suspects, who were residing in a rented house in South Kuta District, Badung, on 27 January 2024.
