Explosion at Semen Padang Hospital Not a Bomb: Police

Inp.polri.go.id -  Padang. The Chief of the Padang City Sub-regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ferry Harahap, has confirmed that the explosion at Semen Padang Hospital was not caused by a bomb. "Please clarify to the public not to panic, this is not a bomb explosion," he announced on Tuesday (30/1/2024). Chief Ferry said that the hospital focused on evacuating inpatients to several hospitals in Padang, including outpatient and emergency unit patients who are allowed to go home, antaranews.com reported. "After the explosion, this hospital is not operational, so these patients are evacuated to other hospitals," he said. Chief Ferry said that the police, especially the Indonesia Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) team, have been investigating the cause of the explostion. From preliminary observations, he continued, the facilities on the seventh floor of the hospital were significantly affected by the explosion. However, it was not yet known exactly what equipment has been damaged. Meanwhile, the President Director of Semen Padang Hospital, Dr. Selfi Farisha, said that they have not yet determined the exact cause of the explosion that occurred at the hospital on Tuesday afternoon at around 3.30 pm. "We cannot confirm the source and cause of this explosion yet," said the President Director. The hospital management has evacuated all registered inpatients, totaling 102 people. All patients were transferred to several nearby hospitals for further treatment. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
