inp.polri.go.id - Palu. The Central Sulawesi Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 30 kilograms of methamphetamine off the coast of Kapas Village, Tolitoli, on Thursday (7/24/2025). The arrest, led by the Director of Narcotics Investigation, Senior Superintendent Pribadi Sembiring, followed a three-month investigation.

Three suspects, identified as JK (68), HS (47), and S (28), were arrested while docking on a speedboat. Police confiscated two sacks containing 15 packages of methamphetamine each, as well as three cell phones used for communication during the operation.

The Director of Narcotics Investigation explained that JK and HS departed from Tolitoli for Tarakan, then Berau, East Kalimantan, before continuing on to Semporna, Malaysia, to pick up methamphetamine from an international network.

They returned to Indonesia with suspect S, stopping at several islands.

"This is a long-standing network that we have been monitoring since 2021. This disclosure has saved approximately 150,000 lives," said the Director of Drug Investigation, Monday (7/28/3025).

For their actions, the three suspects were charged under Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a fine of up to IDR 10 billion. Currently, the police are still pursuing the international network involved.
