inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Director of Special Crimes at the Central Java Regional Police stated that his office will intensify enforcement against illegal oil well drilling in Central Java. This was announced after his staff uncovered three illegal oil wells in Blora Regency.
Senior Superintendent Djoko Julianto stated that the dismantling of illegal oil wells will not stop in Blora.
"We will likely take action in other locations. We, the Central Java Regional Police, especially the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Special Crimes Unit, are making every effort to address illegal drilling operations in Central Java Province," he said in an interview at the Central Java Regional Police Headquarters, Thursday (4/16/2026).
He added that his office will coordinate with the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) in its enforcement efforts.
"We will coordinate with SKK Migas to determine which wells, whether old or new, will be the ones we will take action against," he said.
The Head of the Central Java Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office, Agus Sugiharto, stated that some people still misunderstand Ministerial Regulation (Permen ESDM) Number 14 of 2025 concerning Cooperation in the Management of Work Areas to Increase Oil and Gas Production. The regulation is considered the legal basis for drilling new oil wells.
