inp.polri.go.id - Malang. The Malang Sub-regional Police are conducting an investigation to uncover the cause of a single jeep accident carrying eight tourists on the tourist route towards Mount Bromo.
"Yes, a tourist jeep, it is currently still being handled," said Head of the Malang Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit's Law Enforcement Unit, Second Police Inspector Samsul Khoirudin in Malang, Tuesday (5/13/2025).
As of now, police suspect the cause of the accident was due to the jeep driver, named FLF, who was sleepy when driving the car.
Based on the police report the accident was a single accident and occurred early Tuesday morning, at around 02.30 WIB. All eight passengers were injured.
The victims in the single accident incident have been evacuated to hospitals in Malang Regency and Malang City, while one other victim is undergoing outpatient treatment.
"To Sumber Sentosa Hospital in Tumpang, Malang Regency and Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) in Malang City," he said.
Regarding the chronology of the incident, Samsul explained that the tourist jeep with the number DB-1895-AA was traveling from west to east on the Mount Bromo tourist route or precisely on Gubugklakah Highway, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency.
While crossing the route, the jeep driven by FLF suddenly lost control due to the driver's condition who was suspected of being sleepy.
"The vehicle could not be controlled, then moved to the right into a ravine with a depth of approximately 3 meters," he said.
