inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Police uncover the motive of murder in Surabaya, East Java, by a man against his own father after being insulted.

The Head Unit of Surabaya Sub-regional City Police Criminal Investigation, Superintendent Aris Purwanto, says that the suspect with the initials of AUO (22), was in argument with his father, HMS (64), when they were driving with motorcycle in Sukomanunggal on Saturday (4/5/2025) midnight.

“He was hurt after his own father insulted his wife and parents-in-law,” says Aris on Saturday (4/5/2025).

After a while holding back his anger, he eventually fell to rage at the roadside in Pattimura. He hit his own father with his elbow to the head. HMS fell and his head crashed to the ground.

AUO saw his father was still breathing but decided to leave him behind alone at the location.

“After hitting his father, he took the motorcycle and the black bag of his father,” continued Aris.

Furthermore, he explained that based on the report regarding the discovery of a body at the location, officers conducted an investigation and found indications of unnatural death.

Not long after, officers managed to arrest the perpetrator at the Bhayangkara Hospital of the East Java Regional Police at 12.00 WIB on the same day.

The evidence confiscated included a motorbike, leather bag, purchase receipt, and a flash drive containing CCTV footage from the area where the crime occurred.

"The perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code and Article 351 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison," he explained.
