Inp.polri.go.id - Kediri. Jakarta Popsivo Polwan won a 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16) over Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia in the opening match of the Final Four round of PLN Mobile Proliga 2025, held at GOR Jayabaya stadium, Kediri, on Friday (18/4/2025).
Despite dropping the first set after a tight deuce, Popsivo bounced back with improved defense and serve reception, gradually taking control of the match. Americans Madison Kingdom and Jessica Ann Mruzik led the charge, contributing 19 and 18 points respectively, while local player Arsela Nuari added 15.
Popsivo's comeback was also aided by Petrokimia’s inconsistency and unforced errors, particularly on serves. Petrokimia, missing star spiker Megawati Hangestri due to a knee injury, initially relied on foreign hitters Julia Maria Sangiacomo and Anna Davyskiba but couldn’t maintain momentum, according to antaranews.com.
“We’re lucky to win this opening match. The team was under pressure, which is understandable,” said Popsivo coach Gerardo Daglio. Captain Yolla Yuliana echoed the sentiment, noting room for improvement despite the victory.
Petrokimia coach Jeff Jiang Jie admitted his players struggled with composure, which led to missed opportunities.
