Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State-owned seaport operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) aimed to resolve the backlog of container trucks causing severe congestion at Tanjung Priok in Jakarta Port by Sunday.

“As of today, we’re clearing the backlog from yesterday. We expect to finish by Saturday, so by Sunday the situation should be resolved,” said Drajat Sulistyo, the Executive Director of Pelindo Regional 2, on Friday (18/4/2025).

The congestion, which saw up to 4,200 trucks entering the port area, was triggered by a spike in loading and unloading activities. Typically, Tanjung Priok handles about 2,500 trucks per day, but numbers surged this week, particularly at NPCT 1 terminal.

Pelindo, in coordination with KSOP, police, and other stakeholders, has initiated traffic decongestion measures, including shifting unloading activities to less crowded terminals and tightening container delivery scheduling.

The gridlock was worsened by the late arrival of three large cargo vessels and a long weekend, which led many clients to simultaneously retrieve containers, overwhelming port access routes.
