inp.polri.go.id – A joint team from the Jambi Regional Police immediately went to check on illegal oil well that released oil due to gas pressure. The well continues to release oil which has the potential to cause a wildfire. The Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Jambi Police, Commissioner Christian Tory, said the team went to Kunangan Jaya II Hamlet, Batanghari Regency because of reports from the public regarding the Illegal Oil Well. "We sent down a Joint Team because there were reports from the public that an oil explosion had occurred at the location," said Commissioner Christian when he went down directly with the joint team, Wednesday (10/6). According to him, a team from Pertamina directly observed and measured the gas from illegal drilling wells using a multigas detector. He explained that the results of the measurement of gas levels measured from a distance of 10 meter showed that there was only 5% gas content, meaning that there was no burning potential. "To close the well, it was done by expert officers, namely officers from the Special Task Force for Oil and Gas and Pertamina," continued the Jambi Regional Police's Director of Special Criminal Investigation. Based on information from Pertamina, the estimated closing cost is Rp3.3 billion. Commissioner Christian asked the team of experts to immediately take mitigation efforts to prevent this "overflowing" oil incident so that it won’t cause wild fires like last year's incident.
