Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto officially granted the title of National Hero to Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto, in a ceremony at the State Palace on Monday (10/11/2025), coinciding with National Heroes Day.
The honorary plaque and decree were received by Soeharto’s eldest daughter, Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, also known as Tutut Soeharto.
“Based on Presidential Decree No. 116/TK/2025, Soeharto is recognized as a National Hero for his armed and political struggle during Indonesia’s early years of independence,” the Presidential Secretariat announced, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Alongside Soeharto, nine other prominent figures were posthumously honored, including former president Abdurrahman Wahid, labor activist Marsinah, former minister of law and legal scholar Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, and General Sarwo Edhie Wibowo.
The recognition marks one of the most symbolically charged National Heroes Day ceremonies in recent years.
