The Chair of the Press Council Ninik Rahayu says journalists must work independently in covering the election, particularly in the election campaign activities. This is to prevent journalists from getting caught up in the polarization of news products from regional head candidates.

"We urge our fellow journalists to work professionally, independently, and not be divided or polarized by supporting regional head candidates,” appealed Ninik.

In improving the awareness in maintaining professionalism and independence of journalists, the Press Council, she said, continues to provide a number of warnings.

“What is important is the theme coverage by the media that will be provided to the public. Many times we have issued Circular Letter so that the PRess would not do any activities that would trigger polarization and disintegration,” explains the Head of the Press, Ninik Rahayu
