Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chairman Erick Thohir reaffirmed on Monday (18/8/2025) the federation’s full support for government policies on copyright protection and the use of songs during national team matches.
Speaking after meeting with Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, he stressed the importance of aligning football activities with legal regulations while respecting musicians’ rights.
“National songs are already public domain, so there should be no dispute. But for commercial works, copyright must be respected,” Chairman Erick said, as quoted by antaranews.com
As an example, he highlighted PSSI’s collaboration with legendary band God Bless to perform Rumah Kita, ensuring the creators were directly involved. He also announced plans to visit the family of the late composer Ibu Sud, creator of Tanah Airku, a song often sung by Indonesian players and fans.
Chairman Erick emphasized that songs in stadiums not only create euphoria but also strengthen unity, making it vital to uphold copyright and honor composers’ contributions.
